A Note From our CEO, Kane Willmott
These are unprecedented times. Each decision presents multiple consequences. Therefore, we remain vigilantly focused on first the health and well-being of those we serve, and second on supporting them to the best of our ability.
I am so proud of our team for pulling together to make decisions quickly, communicate feedback and be ever-present through this time. Although there has not been a lot of time to reflect in this fast-changing environment, we have been able to step back and recognize that SPACE is only one element of the value we offer our Members. More important is the service, the human connection, the genuine care that we have for each and everyone at iQ. So today we pivot. Today we ask ourselves the same question we always do: “How do we serve our Members so they can bring the best version of themselves to work every day?” Bob Riley said: “Hard times do not create heroes; it is during the hard times when the hero within us is revealed”. We are here to support all the heroes of iQ, as they create their story of how they overcame adversity. This will pass, and the stories we tell about how we stood together will be one of the greatest stories of our professional lives. Stay safe all and know we are here and committed to supporting you.

What does Safety Certified space mean?
This certification signifies our successful completion of Get Ready Global’s ‘COVID-19 Safe Workplace Assessment’. The assessment, conducted at each iQ location across Canada, was based on best practices, regulatory guidelines and the statues of Public Health Agency Canada (PHAC), Public Health Ontario (PHO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OHSA) and compliance with Provincial Ministry of Health guidelines.
Is screening effective if someone is asymptomatic?
The screening is a tool to minimize the risk of those who are both asymptomatic – related to exposure with travel and personal networks – and those who are expressing symptoms. Screening is the first of our Five Safe Workspace Essentials. Screening, combined with Sanitation, Social Distancing, Adaptation and Communication provides an optimal approach to minimizing risk.
How do I know if everyone in iQ has been through the screening process?
A daily wristband will be given to all those who successfully pass our Screening Station. Should a Member complete the Self-Screening Form prior to arriving on-site, they will be required to visit reception to obtain their wristband before proceeding to their office. Members will not be permitted onsite without a wristband.
What modifications have been made to HVAC to help stop the spread of droplets?
We are working closely with our landlords to assess the effectiveness of the on-site HVAC system. We are following guidance from the World Health Organization and other governing bodies to ensure compliance and safety measures are adhered to.
Have all offices been configured for social distancing or is it just a suggestion at iQ Offices?
We have implemented a Social Distancing Policy as part of our Workplace Acclimation Plan asking those using our space to keep a distance of 6 feet or 2 meters from one another. In order to help maintain distancing onsite, well-marked decals have been installed throughout our space establishing one-way or right of way routing, seat markers, and capacity markers for common areas. Each private office, meeting room, and common area at iQ has undergone a strict assessment to ensure the safety of our Members. The assessments produced recommendations for changes in desk orientation, the addition of plexiglass shields, and the removal of desks, where necessary. In order to accommodate each Member’s staffing needs and our new social distancing policy, we have converted a number of meeting rooms and offices into flex spaces where desks can be reserved on an as-needed basis.
Do we need to wear masks when we are in an iQ space?
We encourage PPE when social distancing could be jeopardized ie. in hallways operating as right of way, elevators/stairwells, or in frequented common areas.
What cleaning and sanitation measures is iQ taking?
We have implemented stringent cleaning and sanitization protocols in collaboration with external cleaning vendors, landlords, and our own Facility Cleaning Representatives. These protocols involve intensive training, equipping staff with personal protective equipment (PPE), two (2) hour cleaning rotations for all common areas, kitchens, washrooms, and high contact zones and posted cleaning schedules for increased visibility and accountability. Additional hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipe installations have been made available throughout our common areas and high contact zones to encourage consistent hand washing. To help our Members maintain a clean work area, we have made available recyclable desk mats for all Members who wish to use them and are offering Office Cleaning Kits with an initial stock of hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes.
How to I check in if I am entering the office after hours?
If entering iQ after 5:30 p.m., Members must complete our Self Screening Form found here: https://www.iqoffices.com/self-screening/. With a successful pass, Members are permitted to enter the space. iQ Staff will receive a report of who has entered the space each morning based on their encrypted key cards and form submission data.
How do I learn what iQ is doing to keep me and my team safe?
Asides from visiting ‘Our Response to COVID-19′ webpage, you can download our full Member Acclimation Plan here. If you are looking for more information, iQ Location Staff have been trained to provide all Members with Workplace Acclimation Consultations – a personalized back-to-work plan for you and your business.
How will safety measures affect amenity offerings at iQ?
We have adapted our shared amenities with a focus on safety. We have replaced our shared snack containers with individually packaged portions, sustainably sourced where possible, and are encouraging the use of personal reusable mugs and water bottles where possible. For our visitors, we have replaced our onsite mugs and glasses with a recyclable option. Our Happy Hours will be offered by bar-cart so Members can still enjoy a beverage (or two) on their designated days.
